What betting is and why you should understand it

Betting means placing money on a prediction about the outcome of an event. If the outcome is correct, a set amount is returned according to the bet; if wrong, the money placed is lost. While it sounds simple, a whole system of odds, probability, and risk management works behind it.

Cricket is the most popular event for sports betting in Bangladesh. T20, BPL, or IPL — every match has betting on match winner, total runs, or wickets. However, betting should always be seen as a form of entertainment — it is not a source of income.

hey bajji's cricket betting section offers various match markets for Bangladeshi players. But the first step before placing any bet is understanding how odds work.

Betting is only for persons aged 21 or above. Participation by minors is strictly prohibited.

Three odds formats — three ways to show the same price

Decimal Odds

The most common format — shows the total return (including stake) directly. 2.50 means a ৳100 bet returns ৳250.

Fractional Odds

Popular in the UK. 3/2 means ৳3 profit for every ৳2 staked, so a total return of ৳5 (including stake).

American Odds

+150 means ৳150 profit on a ৳100 bet. -125 means you must stake ৳125 to win ৳150 in profit.

See below — how the same price looks in three formats:

Example 1 — Team A to win (stake ৳500)

2.50 Decimal
3/2 Fractional
+150 American

If Team A wins, return is ৳1,250 (৳750 profit + ৳500 stake). If Team A loses, ৳500 is gone. All three formats mean the same outcome — only the way they are written differs.

Example 2 — Team B is the favourite (stake ৳500)

1.80 Decimal
4/5 Fractional
-125 American

If Team B wins, return is ৳900 (৳400 profit + ৳500 stake). American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100 in profit.

Calculating a match winner bet in cricket

There are no draws in limited-overs cricket — the match winner market has only two sides. See the example below:

Example — Cricket Match Winner

2.10 Team A
1.75 Team B

If ৳1,000 is placed on Team B and Team B wins, the return is ৳1,750 (৳750 profit). If Team A wins, the full ৳1,000 is lost.

Note that Team B's odds are lower (1.75) because they are the favourite — a higher probability means lower profit. Team A's odds are higher (2.10) because they are the underdog.

hey bajji's cricket betting page has various markets including BPL, T20 World Cup, and Bangladesh Tigers matches.

Multi Bets — multiple selections combined

hey bajji multi bet strategy and casino games

In a multi bet or accumulator, multiple selections are combined and all the odds are multiplied together. The return increases significantly, but if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost.

Example — Multi Bet with 3 selections (stake ৳100)

1.40 Selection 1
1.50 Selection 2
1.80 Selection 3

Combined odds: 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.80 = 3.78 (approximately). If all three selections win, a ৳100 stake returns ৳378. If even one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.

Multi bets are tempting, but the more selections you add, the greater the risk. It is better not to go beyond 2–3 selections when starting out. The multi bet feature is available at hey bajji's betting platform on hey bajji Bet.

Practical betting tips — what actually works

Focus on one sport

Start by picking one sport or league. If you know cricket well, stay with cricket rather than placing random bets on football — it is easier to make decisions about something you know.

Compare odds

Look at the odds across multiple markets or formats to understand how likely each outcome is according to the platform. This makes decisions clearer.

Keep records

Write down the details of every bet — which match, how much staked, what odds, and the result. This is the most effective way to understand your own patterns.

Avoid emotional bets

Betting on your favourite team or rushing to recover losses after a defeat is often the cause of significant losses. Make decisions with a clear head.

Understand the markets

Beyond match winner, there are markets like total runs, Man of the Match, or toss winner. Each has different rules — read the conditions before placing a bet.

Set a loss limit

Decide in advance how much you are willing to lose in a day or week. Once you reach that limit, stop betting for the day — this is the core rule of responsible play.

hey bajji bankroll management and deposit methods

Bankroll management — how to make your money last

A bankroll is the total budget set aside specifically for betting. This money should be separate from daily expenses or savings — allocated for entertainment only.

A simple rule is not to place more than 1–5% of your total bankroll on any single bet. See the three-level example below:

Total Bankroll Per Bet (2%) Per Bet (5%)
৳2,000 ৳40 ৳100
৳5,000 ৳100 ৳250
৳10,000 ৳200 ৳500

Keeping the bankroll small means there is no risk of losing it all completely even after several consecutive losses. You can find more detail on the responsible gaming guidelines page.

The biggest mistakes beginners make

1. Increasing bets to recover losses

Placing larger bets than usual after a loss is called "chasing losses" — it is the most dangerous habit and quickly drains your bankroll.

2. Multi bets with too many selections

The chance of winning an accumulator with 6–7 selections is very low. Most of the time these bets end in a loss.

3. Taking a bonus without reading the terms

Not understanding the wagering conditions of a bonus leads to confusion later. For hey bajji's terms, full details are on the terms and conditions page.

4. Betting without statistics

Placing bets based only on a feeling or what others are saying is not a systematic approach. Have at least a basic understanding of form, pitch conditions, or team situation before betting.

5. Placing one very large bet

Placing a large bet at the start may seem appealing but carries the risk of losing a big portion of your bankroll in one go. Start small.

6. Not knowing the platform's rules

Betting rules, payment methods, and withdrawal conditions can differ across platforms. It is worth reading the terms before betting on hey bajji.

Questions about betting tips

Most Bangladeshi players find decimal odds more comfortable because the total return is calculated directly. For example, at odds of 2.50, a ৳500 bet returns ৳1,250 — just multiply the number. Fractional odds show only the profit; you have to add the stake separately.

Multi bets do offer higher returns, but all selections must win together. If three selections each have a 60% chance, the probability of all three winning together is only 0.6 × 0.6 × 0.6 = 21.6%. The risk is much higher, so it is wiser to focus on single bets when starting out.

A common guideline is to place 1% to 5% of your total bankroll on each bet. This reduces the risk of losing your entire bankroll after a few consecutive losses. The amount can be adjusted up or down based on experience and confidence, but keeping it at no more than 5% at most is the safer approach.

American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100 in profit. -125 means you stake ৳125 to win ৳100 profit — total return ৳225. As shown in Example 2, Team B's decimal odds of 1.80 = 4/5 fractional = -125 American; all three show the same outcome.

In a handicap market, the weaker team is given a virtual run or goal advantage to even out the odds for both sides. For example, if Team A has a -1.5 handicap, they must win by at least 2 runs or more for the handicap bet to win. In the over/under market, you bet on whether the total runs or goals will be above or below a set number.
